The Essure procedure is a noninvasive permanent birth control surgery. The surgery requires no cutting into the body as the micro-inserts are inserted through the cervix with hysteroscopy. During the 3 months following the procedure, the body works together with the micro-inserts to form a tissue barrier. During this time, another form of birth control must be used. After the 3 month period, an HSG is performed to confirm that the tubes are completely blocked.

NovaSure is also a minimally invasive surgery. It is a quick and simple procedure to help reduce the level of menstrual bleeding. NovaSure is the next-generation endometrial ablation. The actual ablation time is about 90 seconds and only needs to be performed once to lighten or stop periods. It is a safe, effective, minimally invasive alternative to hysterectomy and it is free of the side effects associated with hormone therapy.
