Minimally Invasive Surgery |
|
|
The Essure procedure is a noninvasive permanent birth control surgery. The surgery requires no cutting into the body as the micro-inserts are inserted through the cervix with hysteroscopy. During the 3 months following the procedure, the body works together with the micro-inserts to form a tissue barrier. During this time, another form of birth control must be used. After the 3 month period, an HSG is performed to confirm that the tubes are completely blocked. NovaSure is also a minimally invasive surgery. It is a quick and simple procedure to help reduce the level of menstrual bleeding. NovaSure is the next-generation endometrial ablation. The actual ablation time is about 90 seconds and only needs to be performed once to lighten or stop periods. It is a safe, effective, minimally invasive alternative to hysterectomy and it is free of the side effects associated with hormone therapy. Since these procedures can be done in the office it offers many benefits such as quick recovery time and with most insurance companies it can be financially beneficial. Brochures are available for both the Essure and NovaSure procedures that we are performing in our office. If you or if you know anyone who is interested in permanent birth control or in reducing menstrual bleeding, please call our office.
