Listed below are over-the-counter/non-prescription medications and treatments that may be used to relieve discomforts experienced during your pregnancy. Please call your physician before taking any medications other than the ones listed below.

Backache	Tylenol, Regular or Extra Strength DO NOT use aspirin or ibuprofen which may be harmful to the fetus.   Apply heating pad on medium heat or a warm towel four times a day for 15 minutes. Sleep on your side with a pillow between your legs. Sleep on a firm bed. Warm baths. Avoid lifting heavy objects. Avoid standing for long periods of time. Wear shoes with a low heel. Wear a maternity belt.
Leg Cramps/ Swelling	Caltrate Citracal Oscal 500 Tums VIACTIV   Increase calcium and potassium. Magnesium oxide 400 mg nightly.  Drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated. Stretch your legs before going to bed. Wear support hose. Elevate your feet. Rest on your left side. Avoid excessively salty foods.
Muscle Aches	Bengay Tiger Balm Tylenol, Regular or Extra Strength DO NOT use aspirin or ibuprofen which may be harmful to the fetus. Avoid standing or sitting in one position for long periods of time. Relax muscles by stretching, gentle massage or taking a warm bath before bedtime.
