Dr. Jennifer Gilby is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a Fellow of the AmericanCollege of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Board of Governors for Pinellas County Medical Association. Dr. Gilby served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Petersburg GeneralHospital for 2004.
Dr. Gilby went into private practice in August of 2000, and formed Absolute Health & Wellness in April, 2005.
In October, 2007, Dr. Gilby was the first physician in the TampaBay area to perform an in officeNovasure endometrial ablation.She also performs in office Essure tubal ligations. Dr. Gilby’s primary focus in gynecology is minimally invasive surgical and laparoscopic techniques including:total laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy, and laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy in order to provide her patients with the best surgical technique with the least amount of recovery.Dr. Gilby and her partners are the only gynecologists in South Pinellas performing minimally invasive da Vinci robotics hysterectomies. She has privileges at BayfrontMedicalCenter and St. Anthony’s Hospital.
Dr. Gilby, originally from Edmond, Oklahoma, was always drawn to the sunshine and palm trees and moved to Florida in 1988. She earned her Baccalaureate of Science in Zoology from the University of Florida in 1991. She went on to earn her medical doctor in 1996 from the University of Florida, College of Medicine where she served as President of the UF chapter of the American Medical Women's Association. Dr. Gilby completed her training at the University of South Florida, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2000. During her training, she was involved with the development of the Continuity Care Clinics at GenesisHealthCenter and was chief resident for 1999-2000.
Dr Gilby and her husband reside in St. Petersburg with their two children, Braden and Julia.
