Women's Care Florida Foundation
Women's Care Florida Foundation
Our Foundation is dedicated to supporting women’s health and well-being in the local communities served by Women’s Care Florida (WCF).  Through the generous donations of WCF staff and patients, as well as other foundations and community members, we provide financial support on an annual basis.  But that is not all…

Nonprofit organizations that work to support and make real progress for women must themselves be healthy, stable and effective.  That is why our foundation offers grantees more than just money. We don’t simply write a check and move on. We provide strategic assistance that builds leadership, strengthens organizations and seeds long term solutions and change.

“The idea that we can transform foundation assets into opportunities for improving the lives of women, is an extremely powerful idea”, said Kimberly Brock, executive director of the WCF Foundation.  “We have the means and motivation to create sustainable change over time.”

Why Women?

First and foremost, our focus is on women because they are the people we serve in our clinics every day.   In addition, we concentrate on women’s issues because almost one in four women and girls are living in poverty in United States.

Multiple surveys have revealed that funding for women and girls by the foundation community has grown at a faster rate than foundation giving on the whole, showing that donors recognize that women are in need of support.  However, as a share of overall foundation giving, funding for women and girls has remained below 7.5 percent for almost two decades.

What makes our foundation unique? Research has shown funds specifically focused on women have developed a unique approach to grant-making that sets them apart from the mainstream in terms of impact and effectiveness.  A few aspects of our unique approach include:

  • A focus on ‘systemic’ solutions – making changes to the policies and systems that shape women’s opportunities in society.
  • Investments in women who are poor and pushed to the margins – over 80% of women’s fund grants flow to women and girls with a low or no income.
  • We don’t just give money – we build the leadership, skills and influence of our grantee partners.
  • The belief that everyone can be a philanthropist, engaging diverse audiences in giving, leadership and decision-making.
  • We share a common focus on critical issues including combating poverty and violence, and improving access to healthcare and education.
