Humana Military Healthcare Services, Inc. (TRICARE)
Contract Expiration Frequently Asked Questions

  • WHAT CHANGES ARE TAKING PLACE WITH FLORIDA HOSPITAL HUMANA MILITARY HEALTHCARE SERVICES, INC. (TRICARE) THAT IMPACT MY PATIENT RELATIONSHIP WITH WOMEN’S CARE FLORIDA?

Our mission of providing effective, quality women's health care to the community we serve is one we take very seriously. Serving the military is a crucial component to this mission.  Unfortunately, Humana Military Healthcare Services, Inc. (TRICARE) has terminated our contract effective January 31, 2017.

  • WHAT DO WE RECOMMEND YOU DO?

    We recommend you:

    • Contact John Snodgrass, Manager, Network Development at (502) 318-0699 to insist on our continued participation as a participating provider in both TRICARE PRIME and TRICARE Standard. Also, you can demand to speak with Bill Payne, Director, Network and Provider Solutions to voice your disapproval with the termination of your trusted healthcare provider.

    • Verify the “Out of Network” benefits available under your TRICARE Plan. This termination may result in higher out-of-pocket expenses to you. You can verify these benefits by calling TRICARE Customer Service at 1-800-444-5445.

    • Call your physician's office if you need any help. Please discuss this with us at your next appointment.

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM PREGNANT?

If you think you may be pregnant and have not advised us yet, please call our office. If you are a Tricare Prime member who began OB services with us prior to 2/1/17, there are specific provisions in place that will allow us to continue your obstetrical care as an in-network provider regardless of your trimester.  Unfortunately, Tricare has not extended this same benefit to Tricare Standard members; therefore, any services provided to Tricare Standard members after 1/31/17 by Women’s Care Florida will be considered non-par..

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM IN AN ACTIVE COURSE OF TREATMENT?

If you are a Tricare Prime member and you started an active course of treatment with us prior to 2/1/17 that requires a procedure or surgery, there are specific provisions in place for us to continue your care until such course of treatment has been completed.  Unfortunately, Tricare has not extended this same benefit to Tricare Standard members; therefore, any services provided to Tricare Standard members after 1/31/17 by Women’s Care Florida will be considered non-par.

  • WILL I BE ABLE TO CONTINUE MY CARE WITH WOMEN’S CARE FLORIDA ?

After January 31, 2017, we will be recognized as a “non-network TRICARE – authorized provider”; thus, allowing us to provide services to Tricare members; however, we will NOT be accepting assignment – exception would be Continuity of Care (COC) members.

  • HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME TO BE OUT OF NETWORK?

For those members not covered under Continuity of Care (COC) rules, payment equivalent to 115% of Tricare allowable will be required at time of service.  You will then be required to file a claim with Tricare for reimbursement.  The amount of reimbursement will vary by plan/benefits.

  • DO I HAVE TO RESCHEDULE MY NEXT APPOINTMENT?

Depending on specific out of network benefits and your financial responsibility as a patient, you may decide to reschedule your appointment prior to January 31, 2017.

  • IS WOMEN’S CARE FLORIDA GOING TO HAVE A CONTRACT WITH TRICARE IN THE FUTURE?

We will continue discussions with TRICARE with the hope they will rescind their termination and allow us back in the network as a participating provider prior to January 31st.  Please make sure your physician's office has your email address on record to keep you fully informed.

Please know that we are doing everything we can to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.  Your input to TRICARE is greatly appreciated.

We enjoy the privilege of caring for you and thank you for entrusting us with your health care.  We feel honored that you selected us to be your physicians and wish to continue our relationship, if at all possible.
